Rich has always had a passion for science, sports, and outdoor activities. He grew up competing in hockey, baseball, and soccer in the Great Lakes region of the Midwest, while spending much of his free time outdoors and camping. While on a humanitarian trip to Honduras as an undergraduate student, he assisted in the treatment of a young girl’s fracture. From then on he knew he wanted to pursue a career in medicine, specifically orthopedics, to help others not only recover from their injuries, but find strength and confidence while doing so. Rich continues to enjoy outdoor activities with his wife, including backcountry skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, and backpacking.
