Mileah Tiernan says she has always known that she would go into the medical field. She has worked as a medical scribe at The Center for the past year and a half, and was a scribe in the Emergency Room for about 5 or 6 years prior to joining The Center team. Mileah got into this profession while she was in undergrad, and continues to work as a scribe while she applies to medical school. She hopes to be able to stay in the Pacific Northwest, but knows that the competitive nature of getting into medical school may change her plans.
As a medical scribe, Mileah is responsible for documenting everything for a doctor so that the doctor can focus on the patient. Scribes provide documentation in electronic health records, gather information before a patient’s visit, and help The Center physicians deliver exceptional and compassionate patient care. Mileah primarily works with Dr. Timothy Bollom on our sports medicine team. Her favorite part of the job is how much she learns on a daily basis – she says she is continuing to learn more relevant, practical information than she was able to while she was in school.
Mileah was born and raised in Bend, though she and her family took a brief leave of absence to travel the country when she was younger. She says she has stayed in Bend because of all of the wonderful outdoor activities and the amazing community. Mileah enjoys all outdoor activities, including swimming, kayaking, and rock climbing. Her favorite way to spend her time outside of work is roller-skating, and she often participates in roller derby!
