Working in medical transcription in the seventies looked a little different than it does now. Just ask Andrea Sandmann, who in 1979 was hired by Bend Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic, which later became what we know today as, The Center.  Andrea is The Center’s longest standing employee, bringing forty years of experience to our team. Spending her first thirty years as a medical transcriptionist, Andrea played a key role in helping The Center transition to more advanced technology that improved transcription efficiency in our clinics. Eventually, she helped begin what is now known as our Intake Department, and as intake specialist II, Andrea helps keep our intake team running like clockwork.

Growing up in various towns across Oregon, Andrea, at a young age, was fortunate to experience everything from the ocean to the mountains. Eventually settling in Bend, Oregon, at the age of fifteen, Andrea has called Central Oregon “home” ever since. After an opportunity arose to move with her family again, Andrea remained in Bend to continue her full-time job with St. Charles as a transcriptionist working the night shift. Once offered a regular day job with Bend Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic, Andrea left St. Charles and has been a part of The Center’s evolution ever since. On Andrea’s well deserved days off, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and putting to use her favorite antique bowls, pitchers, and watering cans that she’s carefully curated from antique hunting.  Andrea’s humility, dedication, and hard work make her an irreplaceable asset to our team, and we are so lucky to have called her one of our own for forty years and counting.
