ABOUT Dr. Justin Roth

Dr. Roth is a fellowship trained, board certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon that treats a full spectrum of pediatric and adolescent orthopedic conditions and injuries. He specializes in foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, and deformity correction, as well as non-surgical and surgical treatment of complex deformities of the spine and hip, including dysplasia, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), scoliosis, and kyphosis. He also has a special interest in hip preservation, for both adults and children, and trauma.

As one of Central Oregon’s only experts treating children and young adults with orthopedic conditions, Dr. Roth recognizes that children’s growing bodies require specialized care, whether treating a fracture or a complicated medical condition. When complex conditions require a higher level of care than what is currently available in Central Oregon, he has staff privileges at Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland.

He is a member of both the Pediatric Orthopaedic Association of North America (POSNA) as well as the Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA). Dr. Roth’s research interests focus on hip preservation in young, active adults, scoliosis, and orthopedic trauma. He has been a presenter on these topics at national and international conferences. In addition, he has also authored textbook chapters on hip preservation surgery and participated in surgical missions to Haiti, Dominican Republic and the Grenadines. He enjoys backcountry skiing, golf, biking, travel, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

TESTIMONIALS

“I was a little concerned that I wouldn’t be able to play sports or reach my ultimate goal of playing college basketball when I discovered my growth plate slipped from my hip socket, but Dr. Roth and his entire care team assured me that I would be okay after surgery. I was diligent about performing the postoperative exercises and returned to sports when it was safe to do so. I ended up growing six more inches to my full height of 6’11” and continued to play basketball. Now, I’m off to college and getting ready to play for Pittsburgh State in Kansas.” – Tane Prictor

“When I was 15, I was just walking down the stairs, and tripped and fell. I felt a pinch and my hip jammed. When I sat up, I felt an immediate sharp pain. I found out later that my labrum tore and my hip was impinged on both my pelvis and hip bone. The fall had completely destroyed my hip joint so it was rubbing bone on bone. I went from playing sports to being completely bedridden. My family put all of our trust in Dr. Roth. The first few weeks after surgery were really hard, especially since we wouldn’t know if it really worked until my four-week appointment. When we got the x-rays back, it was such a huge relief. I am so grateful and now I am getting back to everything I can — swimming, biking, walking, and playing with my siblings…” Raenah Gehm

“I was lucky in my timing as to getting into see a doctor (got there mid-lunch time and there were no patients waiting to get seen by a (NOW) doctor … lucky me! After submitting my info at the front desk, I sat down in the waiting area… within 5 minutes ‘Heather” came out to get me … she was (I consider) very pleasant in her introduction/asking prohibitive questions, etc. and left telling me that I would be seeing a Dr. Roth (I looked him up while waiting on The Center’s list of doctors/Google too … found that he was relatively new to The Center, but his bio was impressive. I must admit I was extremely impressed with Dr. Roth’s apparent interest in my injury … his questioning/exam, etc. … and I left there fully satisfied that I had excellent care and had been seen by a doctor that I would highly recommend to anyone who wants that extra touch of bedside manner. I would say that Dr. Roth is an excellent addition to the fine doctor staff at the Center.”

“I really appreciate Dr. Roth seeing me in the ER before I went home. He was absolutely correct in encouraging me to not stay in the hospital and that the pain would be less in three days. Really like him and his staff.”
