“Being a professional athlete, I was no stranger to injury, but I was shocked to learn that I needed a total hip replacement after I slipped on some cinder on the side of the road last winter and broke my femur. Dr. Moore knew that my goals were to return to sport, so he was able to work with me and create a treatment plan to help me reach my goals.”- Matt Lieto
“I had problems with my big toe for many years, which probably stemmed from riding motorcycles when I was young. When the pain got so bad I couldn’t sleep at night, I went to see a podiatrist. He wanted to fuse my toe and that just wasn’t an option for me. I’m a pretty active person and it would have left me with no mobility. I started researching other options and discovered the Cartiva implant. The manufacturer set me up with Dr. Moore, who said I was the perfect candidate for that procedure which involves placing a gel implant into the toe joint that acts as a cushion, so you have lubrication and the toe can move again. Although it was a relatively new procedure, I felt good about it because it allows for fusion of the toe joint or additional surgical treatment in the future if necessary. The recovery wasn’t too bad. I was walking again in three weeks and slowly gained my mobility back. A year later, my toe feels nearly 100% better. I’m back to hunting, hiking, and able to do all of the activities needed to run my 160 acre farm.” – Jim Ferrarin
“After six years, I was able to qualify for and run in the Boston marathon. I am so grateful to Dr. Moore and The Center for helping me reach my goals and allow me to run competitively again.” – Brandon Brasher
“I have a history of arthritis in my low back, shoulder, and wrist, so when my knees started hurting I was concerned it was also degenerative arthritis. Working 12-hour shifts in the St. Charles Transfer Center, I have to sit for long periods of time and when I would stand, my knee pain got so bad that I felt like my legs wouldn’t hold me up any longer. When I couldn’t walk short distances or use the stairs anymore, I made an appointment with Dr. Moore. He confirmed that my x-rays showed osteoarthritis in both knees and they would need to be replaced. He thought the best outcome would be with the robotic arm assisted surgery. I was not familiar with the procedure, but I have a lot of trust in him, both from working with him and as a patient, so I felt confident in my decision. Recovering from my first surgery four months ago was a breeze. I was walking fluidly within a few days and off pain medication within four days. I felt so good, I completely forgot to use my walker in my house a few times! The second surgery was a week ago and the recovery has been a little slower, but I know I will get there. I’m most looking forward to being able to go outside and walk my dogs, but just getting up and being able to walk pain-free will be wonderful.” – Roseanne Hammer
“Eleven years ago I was in a bad mule wreck out by Steens Mountain. It took all day to get to a hospital. Dr. Moore was on vacation and came to the St Charles Medical Center at 0300 to put my femur back together with a rod and a bolt through my hip. It was a long road to recovery but I am still backpacking at age 68. Without Dr. Moore, I could be in a wheelchair. I am a forester, and thank God every time I walk in the Big Mountains. I have thought about Dr. Moore nearly every day since my wreck. Thanks to a dedicated professional and a great human being.” – Scott Imus
“Dr. Moore did a wonderful job on my ankle replacement. I never had even one moment of pain during the entire surgery and recovery period, and my ankle is like new! The results are just amazing…he gave me my life back!” – Jerrie W. Anderson
“I appreciate the availability of seeing Dr. Moore in Prineville at St. Charles Medical. I was very pleased with being seen so quickly and being treated with great service.”
“Having my knees replaced has been completely life-changing for me. I waited 12 years after two orthopedic surgeons told me that I needed to have my right knee replaced, until I found Dr. Moore. It had gotten so bad, I avoided going to the grocery store because it was so uncomfortable walking up and down the aisles. When I met Dr. Moore, he told me the same thing as the other surgeons, but he gave me choices. He never pressured me into surgery and he really listened to me. Two years ago, he replaced my right knee and I was amazed at the difference. My recovery was remarkable, I went back to work in three weeks and within four weeks I was able to return to all of my normal activities. My left knee started to deteriorate after that, so one year ago I had my left knee replaced. In March, I hiked to the top of Smith Rock. I never would have dreamed I could do that before. The only part of my body that didn’t ache was my knees!” – Pam Erickson
