As an athlete and avid outdoorsmen, Dan first became interested in medicine when he got injured playing lacrosse and hockey. He found the rehabilitation process fascinating and eventually went to work at a physical therapy clinic where he was exposed to a variety of sports injuries. He went on to become an EMT, where he treated and transported patients on emergency 911 calls. He spent five years as a research assistant at Yale University before pursuing his dream of becoming a physician assistant.
Working in orthopedics was a natural fit for Dan. He did his rotations in Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA and Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. He has done volunteer medical work at Southwest Community Health Center in Hillsboro, OR and with Hand Help in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He enjoys the outdoors, hockey, coaching youth lacrosse, fishing, and skiing.
