The Center for Sports Medicine / Knee and Shoulder Treatment
How common are sports injuries?
Orthopedic and neurosurgical physicians often treat injuries resulting from sports and physical recreation.
-
A football player getting hit hard on the helmet may sustain a concussion
-
A basketball player landing wrong may suffer a serious ankle injury
-
A tennis player may suffer a torn or inflamed rotator cuff in the shoulder
-
A skier may dislocate or damage the tendons and ligaments in a knee
Central Oregon has many opportunities for participation in sports and physical recreation. Injuries can result from any of these activities, no mater what your level of ability is. Whether you are a high school athlete, a skier, a distance runner, a cyclist, or are involved in other sports and recreations, the physicians and other health care professionals at The Center make it their goal to return you to your active lifestyle safely and quickly.
The Center also is involved in several programs, listed below, to better treat and prevent injuries among the athletes of Central Oregon.
Team physicians for local schools
The physicians at The Center have been serving as game doctors for many years at local sporting events.
Free high school physicals
As a service to Central Oregons up-and-coming young athletes, The Center offers a free sports physical one day each August. This service is available to all local area high school students in the Bend-LaPine School District. (Physicals generally are required in the freshman and junior year.)
The Center Foundation
For nearly 45 years, this group has provided the highest quality athletic training and medical services to local area student athletes. Since 1981 this program has grown to include all Bend-area middle and high schools and Sisters High School. Our goal has been to assure our local athletes are provided the highest level of sports medicine support possible. We have continued to expand both our financial and personal time commitments to these students as the demands of our local athletes and our school athletic programs have increased. These services are provided as a donation to our schools and the community at large.
