Despite having a new, state-of-the-art facility, The Center's physicians don't spend all their time there. They are often on the road, seeing patients in communities throughout Central Oregon. In fact, orthopedists and neurosurgeons have been traveling to see patients outside the Bend area for over 20 years.
As part of The Center's commitment to provide quality medical care to all of Central and Eastern Oregon, the rural outreach program provides convenience to patients who can't travel easily and who are more comfortable staying close to home. There are occasions when patients have to come to Bend for services, such as a complex surgery, but part of patient-focused care is make sure smaller communities that can't support specialists full-time have regular and easy access to them. Having physicians in the community on a regular basis also helps to facilitate referrals to local resources such as home health and physical therapy.
The Center maintains offices in Redmond, La Pine, Madras, Prineville, John Day and Burns. Physicians and specific specialties rotate through these offices on a weekly or monthly basis. For example, specialists from The Center hold monthly orthopedic clinics in John Day and Burns, and their clinic in Redmond is open daily and staffed full time. The Center holds a weekly orthopedic clinic in Prineville, and physicians visit Madras twice a month.
